The article discusses various approaches to the definition of the concept of "multimedia", as well as the didactic functions and properties of multimedia, which are an integral part of the theory and methodology of teaching. The development of multimedia educational technologies is analyzed. The reasons for the appearance of multimedia technologies in education, the differences in learning technologies when using multimedia, the advantages of learning technologies when using multimedia are shown.
